Farming for the future
“We believe combining nature and agriculture is the solution to regenerate natural resources, enabling us to pass on true capital to future generations.”
In agroforestry systems, trees, shrubs, annual crops and possibly animals are intentionally combined in order to create a self-supporting system that can produce a wide range of produce from human staple food crops, fruits, vegetables, to diverse animal products, feed, industrial raw materials; fibre, oil, timber and more, depending on purpose and scale.
The Forest Farmers offer regenerative agroforestry design, project development and implementation. We work goal oriented and make it happen.
Defining the goal, analysing location factors, defining functions and elements, selecting the right species for production and biodiversity, sketching and zoning all together lead to the final design.
Starting from scratch, acquiring land, developing a business case, market analysis, starting over, multigenerational farm development, international projects and more is possible.
After design comes implementation, we support successful implementation through sourcing of high quality planting materials and equipment, time and workforce management, instructions, quality control and overview.

Production food forest
In Hoogerheide, a 2 ha productive and rational designed food forest is implemented in winter 2018/19. The design was made in the run of 2018 by The Forest Farmers for our client, the Foundation Voedselbosbouw Brabantse Wal. Aim of this project is showcasing the economic potential of a rational food forest for the production of nuts, fruit, soft fruit, berries and mushrooms.
A great example of regenerative agroforestry is the 40 ha mosaic landscape in Boxtel. In recent years the estate, embraced by the river De Dommel, has not been cultivated for other than making hay. The owners envision a productive, healthy and abundant landscape to rise where a diversity of nutritious food can be grown, harvested and marketed through a mixed agricultural enterprise.
Let’s plant more trees!

Over the past two months, a lot of hard work was done in the city of Hoogerheide. Many hands and spates dug hundreds of holes, planted a few thousand trees and shrubs and sweat getting woodchips on site, installing wooden poles and tearing down old fences. Following the design and development phase in summer 2018, this was the next step towards establishing the economically [...]
